Kai Tong is a Los Angeles–based colorist, DIT, and filmmaker. He began his filmmaking journey in Shanghai, directing documentary, stage, and narrative projects. He later moved to the United States and earned his MFA in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). For Kai, directing, cinematography, editing, and color are all parts of the same process: storytelling. He believes storytelling is ultimately about creating an experience, with every image, cut, movement, and color shaping what an audience sees, understands, and feels. Whether on set, in the color suite, or behind the camera as a director, he approaches his work with the same question: what experience are we creating for the audience?
